Orange County Mining Co sits perched on a hillside in North Tustin, offering more than just a meal — it offers a vantage point. The restaurant is best known as a classic American steakhouse with a nod to mining town nostalgia, reflected in its woodsy, warm interior and sweeping views stretching toward Disneyland’s fireworks on clear evenings.

Visitors here come for relaxed but well-prepared dishes centered around hearty cuts like the slow roasted prime rib and Miner's Filly Filet Mignon. While steaks are the highlight, the menu’s range accommodates other tastes with options like blackened halibut, shrimp scampi, and a notable salad and soup bar that adds a lighter balance. Portions are generous, often making this a spot for a leisurely dinner where sharing and comfort are part of the appeal.

The atmosphere is casual yet inviting, with plenty of space and windows to soak in the sunset or evening city lights. It’s a popular spot for date nights or special occasions, especially anniversaries, where the views add an extra layer to the evening. Service is generally attentive and friendly, with some servers showing a genuine connection to guests, which makes a difference during longer visits or celebrations.

If you plan to visit, mid-to-late afternoon into early evening is a sweet spot, allowing you to catch the changing light and settle in for a meal with a view. Be ready for classic steakhouse staples with a few seafood offerings and a dessert like the Miner’s Mud Pie or Original Cheese Cake to round things off. While the food hits the mark for comfort and familiarity, the real draw remains the setting — where food, view, and time slow down enough to make for an easygoing night out.

Families are welcome too, with kid-friendly plates on the menu making it workable for those dining with little ones. The nearby local community appreciates the easy walk-up hill location, and groups looking for a scenic spot to gather will find plenty of room and a steady, relaxed vibe.

Dinner with a View We recently dined at this lovely restaurant, and the sunset view did not disappoint. The food was a mixed bag, but some highlights stood out. The filet mignonette was cooked to perfection and incredibly tender. However, when we requested horseradish, we were surprised to hear they didn't have any. The grilled salmon was fresh and expertly cooked, but the accompanying sauce was overly sweet and syrupy. Despite some minor missteps, we enjoyed our meal and the stunning view. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

Great views from the top! It’s an incredibly easy walk up and down the hill if you live relatively locally. Great food- and I didn’t even get the steak. So plenty of other options if you’re not feeling the beef flex. L’ognion potage de Francais (French onion soup) was pretty good and the salad is epic. I didn’t try the salad dressings, but I’m sure they’re good too. Cheesy bread was a nice surprise. My non beef main was absolutely incredibly.

Please do yourself a favor & ask the waiter for no salt or light salt. My steak & rice was way over salted. (Wife's also)Spoiled what could have been a great meal. Mud pie is awesome. This has to be one of the best locations for an anniversary date night. Staff were great location & views amazing .

We’re visiting from Las Vegas and brunch often, but this by far was the BEST experience we’ve had! Well worth the price—about $50 per person with bottomless mimosas. Our server, Belen, made everything even better. She wasn’t just attentive—she truly connected with her tables, built a rapport, and enthusiastically shared all the amazing things the restaurant has to offer. Honestly, Belen alone will be the reason we return! The food was absolutely delicious, too. Don’t sleep on this spot—you’ll regret missing it. Thank you for making our trip unforgettable!

The views from this restaurant are gorgeous. You can see Disneyland fireworks from the windows. It is nicely themed inside. They have an open salad and soup bar with chilled serving pans. The food was decently cooked and you get A LOT on your plate. It makes for a nice date night spot, but don't expect amazing food. You come for the great views and setting. Our server was exceptionally nice.

Our company hosted our annual holiday celebration at Orange County Mining Company in the Silverado Room, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. The space itself was spacious, beautifully arranged, and felt both elegant and welcoming. We were able to customize the linen colors to match our corporate logo as well as the room layout to be best suited for our headcount; as well as the addition of activity tables that allowed us to incorporate fun team activities into the evening. The event team was excellent throughout the entire planning process; professional, responsive, and genuinely invested in making our event a success. A special shout-out to Christin, Cherokee, and our event captain, Kai, who ensured everything ran seamlessly and that our guests were well taken care of. The attention to detail, professionalism, and warm hospitality truly elevated our celebration. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team and would highly recommend Orange County Mining Company for corporate events or special occasions.

Our server was Steven. He was super sweet and informative. Especially it being our first time. He gave us really good service. We will definitely be coming back. Food was perfect. Drinks were perfect. My husband had the prime rib and I had the shrimp and scallops. 10 out of 10!
